I met Hercules
On my way to hell,
He was in war garb
Ready to conquer and win
I was dressed in sack cloth
Ready to die and perish forsaken to Hade’s Underworld
I met Hercules
Straight and strong
I was feeble as a twig
He was a jolly sight
Talked me into the night
When we fell in love,
It was a fortnight gone
I met Hercules
His battle he turned to me
Fought for me
From the throes of death he won me
Took me from hell
Burnt my sackcloth
And clothed me in purple
I met Hercules
A poor mortal with no hope
Made me feel immortal
But what’s to stop a weak soul
So little it took to change me back
And when I walked from Hercules,
I burnt around the ground he stood
I met Hercules
Traced his war scars
He kissed my wounds closed
I poked at the scabs
Ruined heaven,
And Hercules’ hate is now larger than his love ever was
And Herculesβ hate is now larger than his love ever was π

I can see from your post that Hercules was also on your mind! Great prose! I just uploaded an article on my website titled “From Zero to Hero – The Myth of Hercules’ -https://authorjoannereed.net/from-zero-to-hero-the-myth-of-hercules/ . Feel free to check it out! You will also find in the article a musical interlude provided by my youngest daughter who is narrating (rather singing) the story of Hercules
