Of Stars and Love

You equate him to stars
Say the whole universe lies in his embrace
You’ve been giving him names
Calling him Andromeda,
your galaxy
You’ve been weaving words
of him being your sun
And how your world revolves around him
But girl,
hasn’t he been theirs all universe?
Andromeda when he’s too robust to fit in your embrace?
Your sun when they’ve all been revolving around him?
Kneeling to him their Lord?
Laying the harvest at his feet their master?
Disrobing for him their lover?
Singing praises to him their muse?
You hoard him like you can ever hide a star
Yet what he offers is a pinch of his light
A star meant to be shared,
surely you thought his brightness lit your face only?
He drives away the darkness
But for how long before he runs off
Business brought him, rest takes him back….

😍 I love it so much. What I don’t like about most poetry, especially by experienced poets is the fact that you don’t understand what the hell they’re talking about πŸ˜… But you’re experienced and your message came out very plain and clear; unrequited love. Your simplicity in your writing is the real fire. To convey the message, the emotion plain and simple, you do that very well. Don’t lose that.

    P.s – Give us more… hahaha

      πŸ₯ΊEli, thank you so much.
Yes, unrequited love and why not evilly turn the “you’re my star” lovey thing πŸ˜‚.
I’m a sucker for sad endings, only in my stories.
πŸ˜‚ Probably because it’s easier to drive everything going south instead of getting somewhere and being like, “oh okay, we need to go back north now”

🀭 I’ll ensure to maintain the simplicity.

Hahaha… I know what you mean. Sad endings are not altogether unacceptable. It’s satisfying to see the imaginary friends in our words suffer a little. It makes them more relatable. Happy go lucky endings often only propagate the fleeting picturesque moments.
